My two year old learned a new word today: “WHY?”

Congratulations Major!
December 13, 2008 at 4:06 pm | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentRecently my husband was promoted to Major in the Alaska Air National Guard. His pinning on ceremony was held on November 24. It was small, but very nice. The General spoke very highly of him and had some very nice remarks about our family. Here are a few pictures I wanted to share.
Of course, as my sister pointed out by showing me this shirt, I get a promotion to! I’m going to be known as ”Major Mom” now!
I am so proud of my husband and am happy he gets the recognition he deserves for all the hard work he does. And I appreciate all he does for our family and of course our country.
Congratulations honey! We love you!
Happy Birthday Little G

Well this is a little late I know, but I wanted to post some pictures for you all to see. Our little boy celebrated his one year birthday November 22!
It’s hard to believe a year has already past. We had a bunch of our friends over for sloppy joes, brats and cake (a fire engine cake for the kids and a whiskey cake for the adults- hey it’s just as much a celebration for the parents as it is for the baby!). Of course I over estimated how much cake people eat. This, in addition to the cake we have from my husband’s promotion ceremony, means we are going to be eating cake for a very very long time!
My little boy is growing so fast. I knew to expect it, but for some reason it seems faster the second time around. (And it’s not only because he’s almost 29 pounds!) Maybe it’s because my attention is more divided than before, or maybe because it’s easier to deal with each phase he’s going through. Either way, every day I look at him and see him becoming more of a toddler and less of a baby.
We are so blessed to have him as part of our family. He is the happiest baby I’ve ever seen, always smiling and giggling. He can walk pretty well now, and has started to even run, especially after his older brother. It’s fun pretending to chase him because he runs away and giggles so much he falls down! There is a lot of babbling, but no distinct words yet, although he does know the sign for milk.
Hello again

It’s been a long time since I’ve really posted, I know. I may have to reintroduce myself if I wait any longer
First our computer was acting up. And then last week was just crazy with the baby’s surgery.
For those who don’t know, last Thursday my little one had his cleft palate repaired. They kept him overnight in the hospital but we got home Friday afternoon and he’s almost back to his normal self. He’s also almost off all pain medication. The surgery went well. We’re seeing the surgeon tomorrow for his first checkup. Now the hard part will be keeping his arm braces on him so he won’t stick anything in his mouth. He quickly figured out how to take them off!
Now it’s on to getting ready for Christmas. This year is going to be simple gifts for people. I have a million ideas of things I’d like to make for people and I torture myself by getting more craft books out of the library (and going to craft shows). That just gives me more ideas! I’m hoping to carve some time out for myself next week to get some of them done!
Hopefully I’ll find some more time to post now that this surgery is out of the way. Christmas baking is coming!!! My favorite time of year!!!

Meal Plan Monday- AK
December 1, 2008 at 12:16 pm | In Recipes, meal plans | 1 CommentTags: indonesion chicken, meal plan, Recipes
Welcome to the holiday season! I know we’ve been seeing Christmas decor in all the stores and hearing songs starting on the radio, but I see Advent as the official start. We inherited a fake tree from a friend this year so we put that up Saturday night. I used to abhor fake trees, but real ones cost over $40 these days, and they die in a week or so. I’m liking ours already!
This week’s menu is simple because I won’t have a lot of time between doctor’s appointments and the baby’s surgery on Thursday. It started snowing a lot more recently too, so I think this calls for a little comfort food (maybe lighter versions to make up for all the eating we did this past weekend!!)
Monday- lasagna casserole (from my freezer), garlic toast, salad
Tuesday- soup and grilled cheese sandwiches, mac & cheese
Wednesday- Crockpot Indonesion Chicken, broccoli, rice
Thursday- leftovers or whatever we can scrounge up (maybe leftover cake!?)
Friday- pizza
Saturday- something salmon (side note: I need to find a new salmon recipe… we have enough salmon to eat every week, that wouldn’t be so bad if every time I made it we didn’t have to eat it for leftovers twice too!)
Sunday- Greek feta burgers and steak fries (both Cooking Light recipes)
If you’re not too full from your own Thanksgiving dinner, check out more meal plans at I’m an Org Junkie.
